When LGBT relationships are ending, many of the issues are the same as in any marriage. If there are children, there are parenting and child support issues to resolve. A division of property needs to be made and any spousal support determined. With a New Jersey Domestic Partnership, New Jersey law regarding marriage and divorce will apply, but federal tax laws will not. If your relationship is not a legally recognized union, you still need flexibility in creating a solution.
